How To Identify How Stress is Living in Your Body
Hello beautiful souls.
For today’s blog, I wanted to add a further insight following from my Somatic Experiencing blog.
Now before people start with somatic experiencing, a lot may think it’s not for them, as they aren’t stressed, anxious, etc. But the beauty of somatic experiencing is that it targets the parts of your body where stress is being held.
And admittedly, not many think they are actually stressed. In my own experience, it was the same, but boy was I wrong.
We sometimes don’t notice these things because it’s our constant state, it feels normal.
I realized that I was having depressive episodes and I was highly anxious all the time but I couldn’t shake the feeling.
This is the way it begins to present itself.
Feeling overwhelmed
Unmotivated
Trouble sleeping
Constant racing thoughts
Memory and concentration issues
I began to notice this was happening…
But I didn’t realize that if I didn’t address it, it would present in my body. So I distracted myself from it.
I was ingesting and accepting my trauma and it physically found itself in my body. It’s found a home.
Other distractions included:
Drinking
Smoking
Overeating
Acting out, apologizing, and doing it all over again
Because I chose to ignore it, it just kept building up and building up!
My body couldn’t handle it so I ended up in the hospital because of it.
It made me: PAY ATTENTION and take control.
So you need to identify your experience. Sit with yourself and work out how you got where you are.
~~~
How do you identify these signs?
They are manifesting. Get out your head and into your heart.
This is what it sounds like:
“Gosh I’ve got this pain in my neck that just won’t go away.”
“I’ve had a headache for the past week.”
“I have some pain going up and down my spine, it’s constant!”
This is a somatic experience. This is your trauma telling you at a cellular level.
This emotional pain chart will help you realize WHERE you are feeling like this.
For example: if you have pain in your neck, it often comes down to stubbornness!
The spine is our support, if you have problems in the upper spine, that is a place where people feel a lack of emotional support.
The middle spine area means you’re stuck into beliefs and behaviors from the past.
The lower spine relates to your sense of stability and often has a lot to do with money.
The trauma is telling me this is what I’m doing.
Options to help with this:
Therapy
Meditation
Journaling/Writing
Visioning exercises
Yoga
As you begin to unlock certain parts of your body, you can notice how your body and your mind are intrinsically linked.
Movement and mindfulness are the key. This is critical in understanding the mind, body, soul connection.
