How to Use Tarot When Experiencing Change
As my Introduction to Tarot Course launches next month, I wanted to share how tarot has helped me and others through periods of change. Tarot and the unfamiliar have an undeniable connection - and what is more unfamiliar than the force of change?
Tarot has this mystical ability to pull knowledge and advice from a perspective you hadn't thought possible!
Using tarot means that you are seeking unbiased guidance to speak with. Whether you are resolving a problem, asking a question, or for advice, tarot will be there to lead you. It might not give exact answers on what changes may come forth, but it can take you on the right path of what to look out for.
A useful method for reading the cards that may help you is the 7-Card Horseshoe Spread
This card spread goes a little deeper than the 3-card pull or the Celtic cross- although that is a beneficial spread when making big decisions. This card spread consists of 7 pulled cards set in a formation of a horseshoe (or U-shape). Each card plays a key role when deciphering upcoming or current changes in life.
The First Card, as with many other card spreads, represents the past
The Second Card symbolizes the present and current experiences
The Third Card signifies two things - the unseen future or the unknown path
The Fourth Card represents the Querant’s emotional response or attitude to the change
The Fifth Card symbolizes the external forces of change or possibly what is missing in the Querant’s life.
The Sixth Card (this can also be doubled with another pulled card if needed) reveals possible actions the Querant might take or what resources they have available to them but not be aware of yet.
The Final 7th Card (which can also be doubled, like the Sixth) represents one of many possibilities: A new path to take, a possible resolution, or a next step in the journey.

There are some signature cards that are almost always synonymous with the occurrence of big life changes:
Strength:
This represents the flight or fight response to change. It is a manifestation of a decision that must be made and that you most likely will be left feeling stronger and more self-confident than before!
The Wheel of Fortune:
This card symbolizes unpredictable change and that there are many possible outcomes to come from whatever arises. This card does not represent any kind of person or thing but is more of a representation of fate.
Death:
Do not jump to conclusions and assume this card always carries a negative omen! When this card is pulled it simply means that change will be coming to end a cycle or pattern. Whether that is a toxic relationship, a push to meet new friends, or ending a chapter of life. When one door closes, another opens!
Tarot cards hold many secrets, but also many answers. When we are faced with change, they are a powerful source of guidance and will be there to help us find our path. Trust the cards, and know that the Universe will take you where you need to go!
Tarot decks come in all shapes and sizes. Check out some of my favorite decks here.
