Tarot vs Oracle Cards

***Disclaimer - this post may include affiliate links***

A large part of my professional and personal routine is the use of card decks with clients and myself for  daily, weekly and even monthly readings. You may have tried this out for yourself before or maybe you have never even heard the words ‘tarot’ or ‘oracle’ in your life. I’m here to shed some light.

Let's talk about tarot and oracle cards. In this blog, I want to show you how you can navigate uncertainty, envision your future, and be here right now, using cards.

As we know, there are lots of cards that people love to use in hopes of getting some answers or guidance from. They do seem to have the potential to tap into some unknown wisdom or secret. That’s what these decks do for me!

Let me explain the difference between the two...

Oracle

  • They don’t have a structure, system, or symbolism to them - they are free-flowing.

  • Oracle cards are created by modern-day sages.

  • They come with specific wisdom, knowledge, and signs that you can decide how to interpret.

  • Create decks with wisdom and mantras to identify and make quick decisions.

  • At a basic level, oracle cards can help you realize how you’re feeling, what to expect, and inspire your future.

Tarot is a little different, however:

  • Fixed system. Unlike with Oracle cards, there is an order to how Tarot readings are made and how it’s done

  • It’s a 78 card deck with 22 major arcana and 56 minor arcana (the name for groups in Tarot cards). In a deck, there are 4 suits; wands, swords, cups, and pentacles.

  • The symbols and signs never change.

  • With the Tarot, you can see that they are created with the same system and structure. There is no way of altering this.

  • They are used in the past, current, and future situations and there too, are many ways to read these cards.
