Inner and Outer Journeys

Inner and Outer Journeys

We have already discussed my 4 Steps on How to Begin a Personal Journey and now that you have bravely begun your new adventure, it is time to start acting as the protagonist of your own story. What would be the difference if you view your journey through an outward versus an inward lens, and how will that affect your growth?

The Inner Journey

Taking a deeper look within ourselves definitely requires vulnerability but I promise you, doing so will change your life! The inner journey can take a lot of time and patience but it is a crucial part of telling your story and completing your journey. The inner journey will have us look inward and delve into who we are, where we come from, and understand the real, true reasons behind our actions or beliefs. This will involve asking yourself honest questions and getting to the bottom of what brings you joy, sadness, frustration, pain. As you move along your personal journey, remember to take time to check in with yourself and see how you are feeling. Learning more about yourself and your truth may not be the easiest task, but the clarity and empowerment you will feel from it make it all worth it

The Outer Journey

The Outer journey often focuses on the exterior parts of your life. Your relationships, career,  appearance, and outward goals - it is what we do and how we handle our physical world. These types of journeys often have a clear beginning and steps to accomplish your exterior goals. Whether your journey focuses on a healthier lifestyle or learning a new skill, an outer journey also supplies us with a support system for you to succeed in your goals! It also can create the ever-important environment for us to realize that we require greater, deeper change. If you find a bit of difficulty in dealing with change, feel free to read a bit about my recent experience and how I deal with it. This brings us to the slightly more complicated part of personal development- the inner journey.

During this experience, try to appreciate all of the progress you have been able to make so far.

Now that you have learned the difference between inner and outer journeys, you are better prepared to discover your strengths, challenges, and who you really are.

Happy Journeying,
Jackie
