Journaling 101: Why You Should Start and 4 Prompts To Get You Started
Journaling is a great habit to pick up for a variety of reasons. You can keep track of your feelings, check-in with yourself, look back on memories, and so much more.
I’m a big fan of journaling, as I know it has a big impact on your mental health and sense of self.
I’ll journal once a day for a few minutes to a whole hour to get my ideas down on paper. I love making note of the little moments.
I’ll write about the happy, the sad, the joyful!
Not sure where to start? No worries, I was exactly the same when I began. So here is a guide…
Journaling 101:
Grab yourself a nice notebook.
Pick a time of day that you’re going to journal every day.
Make a note of what you want to gain from journaling - it’s always good to have your goal in mind. Do you want to journal about your mental health? Keep track of your memories? Or just see where it takes you!
Start writing.
Write the date at the top of each entry and number your pages if they aren’t already numbered.
Stick with it! Once you reach 50 pages, see where you are. Ask yourself if journaling is for you. I’m gonna bet it is.
A lot of people struggle with what to write in a journal. To save you the trouble, try these 4 prompts at the start to keep you inspired.
1. What made you smile today?
2. Write about a time you felt inspired!
3. Do you remember the last time you cried? Write about it.
4. What are your current goals? Talk them through.
One last tip for journaling has to be: get a good pen. These pens are just the loveliest. With the sweetest inspirational messages, you’re sure to write up some magic.
Let me know if you’d like a longer list of prompts? I’ll share on my blog if so!
